The International Organization for Migration says over 20,000 people have been displaced in Juba and Wau alone in the past two months due to continued fighting between armed groups.

It says more than 12,000 have been displaced in Juba alone, and more than 80,000 in Wau.

The IOM says the movement is as a result of civilians trying to escape – shifting locations of insecurity.

The agency says that in some parts of Jubek, Terekeka, andYei River states, which previously remained fairly stable, an increasing number of security incidents has caused many civilians to leave their homes.

It says the movements have been particularly significant from Yei, with multiple reports of targeted violence and harassment against civilians and disruptions in the delivery of aid supplies.

The Head of Operations IOM South Sudan, John McCue says restricted access to the affected areas is making it more difficult to reach the vulnerable population.
