The department of Gender, child and social welfare in Yei River County is conducting an awareness campaign on the dangers of domestic violence within its communities.

There have been reported cases of gender-based violence in the county. The campaign will cover all the Bomas and Payams of the County.

The assistant commissioner of gender, Victoria Nasirah Augustine, told Eye Radio that this will help men and women live peacefully in their homes.

“We have seen that there are a lot of problems happening in the community and also the workload in the house, making girls drop out from school,” said Ms Nasirah.

The awareness campaign is being supported by Mugwo Development Organization a local community based organization.
