Yei Civil Hospital runs out of drugs, understaffed

Author : | Published: Monday, April 27, 2015

There is shortage of medical supplies and inadequate personnel in Yei Civil Hospital, a health official has said.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Joseph Malish, says the challenges have decreased the number of patients accessing the center for treatment.

He says some of the trained medical practitioners are also quitting the profession due to low salary.

He called on the Ministry of Health in Central Equatoria to address the challenges.

“The hospital with a capacity of 316 patients is being managed by three doctors,” Dr Malish told Eye Radio.

“The other challenge is salary scale which we used to report every time. We have staff who are receiving 215 pounds [monthly].”

Yei civil is a state owned facility established in 1916.
