Yei: New bylaw criminalizes ‘indecent dressing’

Author : | Published: Friday, December 12, 2014

A bylaw regulating the code of dressing in Yei River County, Central Equatoria, has been approved by Yei Legislative Council members.

The bylaw stipulates that whoever dresses indecently will be tried in local courts. They will face up to six months in prison if found guilty.

It also says that mini-skirts, skin ties and sagging trousers will be considered as indecent dresses.

The chairperson of the Yei County Legislative Council, Cosmas Lasuba Kasiano, says the law is aimed at promoting decent dressing among the youths in the county.

“Other cultures were adopted and are actually tarnishing the code of dressing in Yei River County,” said Mr Kasiano.

“You can see our young boys including ladies here are putting on clothes which are not there sizes.”
