A candlelit memorial ceremony in recognition of the day the current violence erupted last year will be held on Monday.

This is to pay respect to the people who were killed during the conflict that erupted in Mid-December last year, according to South Sudan Civil Society Alliance.

The ceremony will take place at the Dr. John Garang Mausoleum in Juba.

Santino Mawien Agoth, spokesperson of the Civil Society Alliance, says all South Sudanese are invited to attend the occasion.

“We want to make for them memorial anywhere, it’s not necessarily to invite you, but we hope that all South Sudanese citizen will carry and light a candle on that day,” Mr Agoth told Eye Radio.

The memorial service is being organized by the rights group  in collaboration with the Council of Churches.
