Those who do not follow new hygiene measures in Yambio Town, Gbudwe State, will be fined 1,000 pounds, and imprisoned for weeks, according to the mayor.

Daniel Badagbu issued the measures last week, asking traders and residents of the municipality to keep their surroundings clean to avoid the spread of suspected cholera cases that have been reported in three states in the country.
Mr Badagbu says the punishment for not implementing the measures includes an imprisonment for about a year.
“The people in the market will have to pay 1000 south Sudanese pounds, and of course two weeks inside the prison, yea for the common citizens I have done the same.
He also directed residents to regularly clean around their homes, where failure to do so, imprisonment for seven days will be the punishment and a fine of 500 pounds, after being released from prison.
The chamber of commerce in the state has confirmed that traders have received the order.
The chairperson, Ezikia Philip said traders were to meet over the order.
