The Mayor of Wau Municipality, Western Bahr El-Ghazal, says pastoralists whose animals are reported to have destroyed crops in farm lands south and west of Wau have been asked to leave. Farmers are reporting the widespread presence of armed herders from Warrap State, and complain that the pastoralists are destroying farms. Michael Gebatin Okello told Eye Radio from Wau today that farmers and pastoralists have reached an agreement so that such incidences do not repeat every year. Mr. Gebatin added that the cattle herders have started moving away from the farming land with their animals.
