SPLM holds meeting in Kampala

The SPLM party leadership met the SPLM former political detainees in Kampala to discuss country crisis, an official has said.

On Sunday, President Salva Kiir and his delegation were in Kampala to meet Uganda ruling party leadership and also SPLM former political detainees.

The visit was on the invitation from the Ugandan ruling party, the National Resistance Movement.

Addressing the media in Juba International Airport, the Spokesperson of the SPLM, Akol Paul Kordit said during the visit, they met with the SPLM political detainees.

“It is worth mentioning that these meetings were good and cordial and I would like therefore on behalf of the SPLM leadership to assure our membership, the people of South Sudan and the entire region that the SPLM leadership is fully committed to peace to see into it that the suffering of people is brought to an end,” Mr Kordit said.

“For sure, the nightmares of war and conflict will come to an end and this country will one time be at peace with itself.”

He said the President was accompanied by members of the SPLM political bureau and the members of the SPLM national liberation council.

President Salva Kiir arrived in the country this morning.
