More than half a million pounds meant for salaries of SPLA soldiers has gone missing.

The SPLA spokesman, Col Philip Aguer, says the 670,000 pounds disappeared in the care of two officers: a major and a lieutenant colonel.

Col Aguer told Eye Radio today that the money was meant for soldiers in Brigade 17 in Rumbek, Lakes State.

“The paymasters went to a place called Mayendit in Unity State first to pay the army there, and they were supposed to come back to Rumbek to pay brigade 17, which they did not do,” Col Aguer said.

Col Aguer says the officers have been arrested and are under investigation.
