Preparations in Malakal at high gear for President Salva Kiir’s endorsement as SPLM flag bearer in Upper Nile region for the December 2024 elections, according to the deputy governor.

Ayong Awer says locals from the three states of the Greater Upper Nile region including Pibor and Ruweng Administrative areas will participate in the event.

The Deputy Governor called on the sons and daughters of Upper Nile region to turn up for the event in Malakal town due in the coming weeks

“We are preparing well and everything is going smoothly, we remain with only a few things, and next February, the visit will take place, because now we have light at Malakal stadium,” said the deputy governor.

“The three states of Greater Upper Nile plus two administrative areas will be participating in this event to endorse our president who will be our flag bearer as it’s happened in Wau,” he said.

“I am calling sons and daughters of Upper Nile to go to Malakal and its counties to do mobilization.”

Last year, SPLM members in the Upper Nile region adjourned the endorsement of Kiir’s presidential candidature due to bad roads caused by torrential rains and flooding.
