Author : | Published: Monday, October 31, 2016

The delegation of the South Sudan Council of Churches returning from the Vatican says Pope Francis has accepted to visit South Sudan to pray for peace.

They include Daniel Deng Bul, the archbishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan, Paulino Lokudu Loro, the metropolitan archbishop of Catholic Church, and Peter Gai Malual, the Chairman of South Sudan Council of churches.

The religious leaders were invited to Vatican by the Pope Francis to brief him on the situation in South Sudan. They returned to Juba yesterday.

“He is the man of peace; we need him to come at least to pray in our land here and with that, God may listen to his prayers,” Archbishop Daniel Deng told reporters upon arrival at JIA on Sunday.

Archbishop Deng said the Pope is concerned with the suffering of the people in South Sudan.

He said they have suggested that the Pope should come together with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

Archbishop Deng said pope has accepted the invitation to visit South Sudan, but no date has been fixed yet.
