Peace prayers held in Jonglei’s Bor

Church leaders have held prayers and a conference for peace in the Jonglei State capital, Bor.
Bishops, government officials and the residents of Bor Town took part in the three-day prayers, which concluded on Sunday.

The Mayor of Bor Town Nhial Majak Nhial, said the participants discussed how to restore peace in the state and to the country.

“All the faithful and the people of government and all the citizens of Jonglei are praying and also conferencing for a peaceful prospect of our state,” he said.

“We are discussing about general peace in country, peaceful coexistence of the people of the south Sudan, peace in Bor and peace among the citizens of Bor, and we want for the long time peace in the country.”

The Chairman of the National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation Committee, Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul, led the prayers.

Jonglei is one of the states which have been hit hard by the ongoing conflict since December.
