President Salva Kiir says his government is ready for elections and there will be no more extension of the transitional government.

The head of state made the remark while addressing a government function in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state capital, Aweil on Tuesday, according to the Presidential Press Unit.

President Kiir extended his trip to Aweil from Kwajok where he attended the Centenary celebrations of the establishment of a Catholic Church.

The press unit cited him as saying ‘the peace agreement is holding’ and that “the roadmap approved by all parties is currently being implemented.”

“My government will go for general elections after transitional period and no more extension of transitional government.”

Kiir also reiterated the government’s commitment to infrastructural development across the country to improve road connectivity among the states.
