Mundri West is now calm after a fighting between farmers and pastoralists yesterday, authorities in Western Equatoria State have announced.

The fighting erupted after cattle destroyed a farm.

“There was exchange of fire that led to that fighting or anything and it’s involved one farmer whose farm was burned by the pastoralists,” Charles Kisanga, state Minister of Information, told Eye Radio.

A girl was injured in the fighting. Mr Kisanga said that the security organs in the county managed to calm the situation.

“The county authorities talked to the pastoralists and the community that this thing should not be escalated because misunderstandings are common.”

There has been clashes between cattle keepers and farmers in the area. Similar incidents were reported in August in Amadi locality.
