The Lakes State government has suspended the payment of salaries of its civil servants through the Payroll committee.
The committee was formed to screen the government payroll for ghost names, and manage payment of the salaries.
The Director General in the Ministry of Human Resource, Labor and Development, Isaac Chol, says some employees do not report to work but only appear on payday.
Mr Chol also said the security situation in the state makes the operation of the committee difficult.
He says all government workers can now receive their salaries from their office finance departments.
