Lakes State legislative assembly reopened today after nearly a year without sittings.

From Rumberk, Eye Radio’s correspondent Michael Makuach reports …

“The various ministers of different ministries of the state, all MPs of parliament, all director generals in different ministries or institutions and the public at large have all gathered,” reported Michael Makuach, Eye Radio’s stringer in Rumbek.

“It is not fully but may be they are going to talk about the resolutions of the peace conference,” he added.

The peace and reconciliation conference held in Rumbek from the 14th to 17th recommended disarmament of the civil population including registration of all firearms of traditional leaders within a month.

The conference also agreed that all participants from all the 8 counties to preach peace in their respective counties, payams and bomas.
