More than 12,000 IDPs are receiving non-food items in Lainya County, Central Equatoria State.

The two-day distribution which started today is being carried out in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross.

“We are distributing cloths, buckets, jerry cans, soap, mosquito nets, and tarpaulin,” said Marial Mayom Riak, communication and resource mobilization manager of the Red Cross.

Last month, more than 11,000 people fled Wondurubo to Lainya County due to fighting between the government forces and the SPLA-In opposition.

Authorities in the area had called on the government and partners to provide assistance to the displaced people.
