Members of the Central Equatoria State Assembly have rejected the appointment of the Minister of Public Services, Michael John Kong’a.

They met on Friday to vet the 12 state ministers that were appointed by the Caretaker Governor, Juma Ali Malou, late last month.

The Chairperson of Information Committee in the state assembly, Honorable Modi Lomindi, says Mr. Kong’a did not reach the academic required credentials for a ministerial position.

“The Minister for Public Service was rejected simply because of performance and the documents he produced,” said Hon Lomindi.

“We actually look at are the academic credentials which actually portray the maturity of the individuals given such public positions in order to meet different people at the public sector.”

The highest level of education Mr Kong’a has attained is unclear.

“Michael John Kong’a said he has not brought his documents from the university,” Hon Lomindi added.

After lengthy scrutiny of the candidates’ educational backgrounds, the committee approved the 10 appointments.

Meanwhile, another appointee, Emmanuel Khamis, resigned from the position of the Minister of Physical Infrastructure on Thursday.

He quit, claiming that unknown people threatened him via text messages to leave the position.

He also said that a group of people he also declined to name has also accused him of misusing public property.
