The army has dismissed reports that it is preventing residents of Lainya County in Yei River State from taking food to their villages.
On Tuesday, a church leader said that some SPLA soldiers were hindering the movement of the residents in the area.
Most of the residents of the town fled their homes due to insecurity in the area.
The Bishop of the Lainya Diocese of the Episcopal Church, Eliaba Laku, said some soldiers don’t allow them to take the food because they want the residents to return to their homes.
“Pure lie”
But the SPLA spokesperson, Brigadier Lul Ruai, told Eye Radio the allegation is baseless.
“I got in touch with the command and they told me that it was a fabricated story,” Brig Rual denied.
“They are saying they have not been denying anybody access to the rural areas. It is a pure lie.”
The area residents say there has been insecurity in Lainya County since August, making it difficult for them to return to their homes.
