President Salva Kiir has informed the Governors’ forum that anybody who wants to become a president has the right to organize his party and contest peacefully without violence in the 2024 elections.
Kiir made the remark at the opening of the ongoing 7th Governors’ forum in Juba on Tuesday.
The head of state is encouraging parties to the peace agreement to cooperate for the country’s transition to a politically and economically stable democracy.
President Kiir called on the peace parties to refrain from engaging in activities that would destroy South Sudan and harm the citizens.
“We are establishing South Sudan as a democratic country. Anybody who wants to become a president has the right to organize their party and contest peacefully without violence,” Kiir told the 7th Governors’ Forum.
He added that anybody who wants to be a president has the right to organize his or her party and contest elections without violence.
