Kajo-Keji kills stray dogs

Author : | Published: Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Authorities in Kajo-Keji County have ordered the killing of stray dogs after two children died from dog bites in Kangapo one village.

Three other children who suffered from dog bites have been admitted at the  Kajo-Keji hospital.

The commissioner for Animal Resources said the children were infected by rabies after the dogs bit them.

“Those children who were bitten actually died [because] the hospital had no anti-rabies serum,” Taban Elley Emmanuel told Eye Radio.

Mr. Taban said they have ordered the police to kill all dogs that have no owners in the town.

“We came out with a resolution to buy some vaccines from Uganda so that we will be able to vaccinate dogs which have their owners, but for the stray dogs, the authority is going to kill them all”

Emmanuel Taban urges people to take their pets to the nearest veterinary center for vaccinations.
