An official of the Sudan embassy who was detained in Juba over a week ago was released yesterday.

Officials say Mr. Kuwa Haren was arrested at a military facility in Juba.

“My brother Kuwa was found in a military place on Friday the 1st of May, which is not allowed to civilian,” said Majdi Ahamed, Charge d’ Affairs of the Sudan Embassy.

It’s not clear why and what he was doing at the unnamed military facility.

Mr Kuwa is a guard for the mission’s office. He also helps in the delivery of correspondence between different units at the embassy.

According to a press statement in Khartoum last week, he is of sound mind and does not suffer from any illness or mental disorder.
