Jonglei man turns down job

Author : | Published: Thursday, March 3, 2016

A ministerial appointee in Jonglei State has rejected his new position, saying he is not qualified for the post.

Yath Awan Yath is currently the Director General in the national Ministry of Electricity, Water, Irrigation and Dams.

Governor Philip Aguer Panyang named him as the minister of information last week.

Mr Awan told Eye Radio that he doesn’t know anything about information and the duties of an information minister.

“I just don’t want to enjoy being the minister,” he told Eye Radio.

However, Mr Awan is one of the two ministers who were rejected by the Duk community.

The community leader, Abuot Awan, said Mr Awan and the Minister of Agriculture, Mayen Ngor, were not in the list sent to the governor for appointment.

The state cabinet was sworn in on Tuesday without the two appointed ministers.
