IGAD mediators have presented a new proposal on security arrangements to delegates of the warring parties meeting in Addis Ababa.

This comes about a month after the SPLM in Opposition refused to sign the outcome of a similar security meeting in Addis Ababa on permanent ceasefire and transitional security arrangements.

John Luk Jok, spokesperson of the Former Political Detainees says the new proposal suggests the two parties will contribute an equal number of troops to a force that will remain in Juba during the transitional period.

In Addis Ababa today, Mr Jok said the force will comprise of more than 5,000 soldiers from both sides.

Delegates from the government and the SPLM in Opposition are yet to confirm the proposal.
