The Relief and Rehabilitation Commission says it has provided food and tents to more than 500 people displaced from the UN camp in Juba over the weekend.

Several people were killed and others injured in clashes that started between two families and spread to the communities inside the camp.

The commission says it delivered the assistance to the IDPs in Manga-teen area in Juba, where they are camping after leaving the UN site of protection of civilians.

“We supplied them with non-food items and food items, starting since yesterday and we have been there with them,” said Martha Nyimal Chaot, acting chairman for the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission.

“These are big sized tents. Content may be 3 to 4 families. Still we are getting more for them.”

There is no clarity over the casualty figures in the weekend clashes.

The UN says three were killed but the government puts the death toll at five. Some of the IDPs insist that more were killed in the fighting.
