On the Valentine’s Edition, Eye Radio’s Soundtrack Show host Kafuki Jada asked listeners on how they deal with some challenges in their relationships, especially with the modern day social media communication.

In the new era of social media, many people including those in relationships and couple chat and check on each other online.

The question is, how do you feel when your partner is always online but does not send you message? Imagine that they never initiate conversations with you but they are always online.

Answering the question, Eye Rado listener Zaim Abu Lulu said said healthy relationships involve humility and confidence.

“No envy or jealousy or selfishness, when people love each other, they always value one another and check on each other unless there a problem.”

“That’s why they don’t check or chat with each other. If you truly love someone, when they are online you will check on them, you can send them a message and you understand each other better.”

Meanwhile Sabr from Wau had this to say.

“Let’s say you send a message to someone and they don’t respond. Sometimes its network, and it can show that they are online when they are not or sometimes their internet is on but they are not using the app.”

“So, it not good to rush and jump into conclusion don’t miss understand people it’s good to be patient. For me, I don’t get angry if it bothered me I will ask the person in person; why don’t you chat with me when you are online sometimes they will give you a valid reason and you will end up wrong and embarrassed as well.”

According to Jennifer Litner, a relationship expert and health writer based in Cape Town, South Africa, the use of social media can be damaging and toxic to relationships.

She says social media can be helpful for connecting when we can’t meet — but it can also rob us of quality time when we can.

“Social media can affect all areas of your life, including your relationships with partners, friends, and family members,” she said.
