The government says it will triple the salaries of junior staff next month.

These include workers from grade 17 to grade10.

The move is part of efforts to raise the salaries of all the government employees after the devaluation of the pound.

The Minister of Information, Micheal Makuei Lueth, said the Council of Ministers discussed different ways of increasing the salaries and agreed to start with the junior civil servants.

Mr. Makuei explained the process to reporters after an extra-ordinary Council Ministers meeting in Juba.

He said senior civil servants and ministers will follow at a later time.

Mr. Makuei also said the cabinet directed the security forces to monitor the flow of hard currencies auctioned every two weeks by the Central Bank.
