Members of the SPLM-IO say they will not return to Juba through the Arusha Agreement.

The agreement entails that all the members had agreed agreed to come back to Juba. However, they want a final peace deal before returning home.

A member of the Former Political Detainees, John Luk Jok, told Eye Radio that the SPLM in Opposition expressed this position during a meeting of the SPLM groups in Arusha recently.

The meeting ended on Wednesday.

A member of the government delegation to Arusha says the SPLM in Opposition also laid some conditions for the reunification of the party.

“The SPLM –in Opposition has once more dragged its feet towards the implementation and have raised what we call obstructive conditions and are intentionally meant to frustrate the peace process in the country,” Akol Paul Khordit told Eye Radio.

He said the opposition wants the party basic documents to be reviewed before they return to Juba.

“For example, they proposed that the party basic document should be reviewed outside the country.”

However, Mr Khordit said the “SPLM cannot operate outside the borders of South Sudan”.

The SPLM in Opposition is yet to release a statement on the outcome of the meeting.
