Late Yuot Alier Hok, former commissioner of Bor County.

The former Commissioner of Bor County in Jonglei State Yuot Alier Hok passed on at a hospital in Juba on Thursday, a family member said.

Mr. Alier, who is a Canadian citizen, felt sick in December 2023, and was diagnosed with brain tumor.

Following the incident, his specialist advised him to go for brain surgery abroad.

The late decided to travel to Canada and the family had already booked his trip and he was scheduled to leave on January 15, 2024.

While in Juba, his relative John Mayol said Mr. Alier was being rushed to several nearby hospitals to save his life, but he could not get any help from all the facilities he was taken to.

“We rushed him to several hospitals, but they could not get help, so they took him to Juba Teaching Hospital, and they also said the same thing that the rooms are full, and they could not help him, while they were still at Juba Teaching Hospital he stops breathing,” he narrated to Eye Radio.

Mayol said the former commissioner died on Thursday morning in Juba. His body will be flown to Bor Town for burial this coming Saturday.

“We asked them to examine if he is still alive or not, but they could not help us on that, so we decided to take him to another clinic in Juba Town but unfortunate, we already lost him.”

Mr. Mayol added that lack of Oxygen and negligence at the private and public hospitals in Juba causes loss of many lives.

Yuot Alier Hok was appointed in 2021 as the Commissioner of Bor County and relieved in January 2023.
