More forces along roads leading to Mundri

Author : | Published: Monday, June 1, 2015

The Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs says soldiers have been deployed on all the roads leading to Mundri West County.

Last week, the SPLA said 18 people died in fighting triggered by killing of the executive director of the county, John Cleopa.

“We have sent in forces; we deployed them along the roads from Yei to Mundri to Yambio and to Bahr el Ghazal,” Defense Minister Kuol Manyang told the Council of States this afternoon.

“But also we want to politically enlighten our people; we move and educate the civil populations because those who have come up as rebels are doing something they don’t know.”

Last week, the Council summoned the ministers of Interior, Defense and Security, to explain the incident.

The Council has resolved to send an investigation committee to Mundri.
