EES beefs up security along Torit-Kiyala road

Author : | Published: Monday, November 24, 2014

In EES, security forces have been deployed on the roads linking Torit to others counties, according to the Commissioner.

The move comes after armed men ambushed a vehicle and looted valuables from travelers yesterday on Kiyala-Kapoeta road.

However, German Charles Ojok said the gunmen did not harm anyone.

Mr German says forces have now been deployed along the roads to provide security.

“We are continuing to make sure that there should be no looting or stopping of vehicles along the road and as I am talking to you, we have already sent our forces to patrol the road between Kiyala and Kapoeta, and Kiyala and Ikotos,” he told Eye Radio.

There has been rising insecurity in Torit in the past two weeks. Three people were killed two weeks ago and a police officer wounded last week by gunmen on the Torit-Kapoeta road.
