The government of Central Equatoria is calling for an end to the killing and intimidation of civilians in the country.

The state deputy governor said the random firing of guns in Juba and other areas is causing panic among residents.

Manase Lomole urged the organized forces to refrain from harassing civilians so that they can return to their homes.

Mr. Lomole was addressing a peaceful march against the UN Mission in South Sudan yesterday.

He urged the organized forces to search for criminals killing and looting people’s properties in Juba.

“We stand for the promotion of culture of peace, peaceful coexistence, resolution of conflict through dialogue, but not through violence,” he said.

“Letting of innocent blood, lynching of people in our towns, looting of properties and illegal occupation of the houses whose occupants must have left for one reason or the other must stop.”

Mr Lomole said continuous violence has affected the livelihood of every South Sudanese.

“The people of the Republic of South Sudan do not deserve any more death, we do not deserve any more destruction, we do not deserve any more displacement,” he added.

“We do not deserve what we have witnessed in the last five weeks.”

The deputy governor called for unity and understanding amongst South Sudanese of all communities.
