The Managing Director of Nile Petroleum Corporation (NilePet) on Wednesday dismissed an anonymous letter, recently circulated online, alleging an industrial action by staff of the oil firm.

Eng. Bernard Amour described the document as pure propaganda and accused individuals with aspirations for his position of being behind the “misleading” information.

According to Eng. Amour, the authors of the circulated document have an agenda to spread fake news that will harm NilePet’s reputation as well as that of the nation.

“The only problem, which is my concern, is that whatever these individuals are doing, they are not only destroying the image of NilePet, but they are also destroying the image of the country,” he told a press conference upon returning from the COP28 in Dubai.

Amour further described NilePet staff as decent employees who uphold the rule of law and comprehend the challenges facing the nation.

According to him, none of his staff could have been involved in drafting such a document, suggesting that the authors might be part of a “redundant workforce sitting at a coffee shop in a Juba town.”

He said that the oil firm is operating normally with no ongoing strike.

He said there are individuals currently under investigation, adding the institution will apply the “full force of law” should any substantial evidence of malpractices be found against them.

“NilePet remains open to scrutiny and is dedicated to undergoing reforms to establish itself as a reputable national oil company. We will continue carrying on with reform to transform NilePet into a reputable national oil company,” he assured.

The energy official said he would uphold NilePet’s operational normalcy and emphasized the company’s commitment to professionalism and adherence to the rule of law.
