CHF allocates $60m to aid agencies’ 2015 operations

The Common Humanitarian Fund has allocated $60 million to humanitarian agencies in South Sudan for next year’s operations.

The Public Information and Reporting Officer in OCHA – South Sudan, Jennifer Paton, says the money will be used to buy non-food items.

“All of this is about funding will support non-food items and emergency shelter, water and sanitation but also livelihood supplies seeds and tools,” Ms Paton said.

This will help people during dry season.

The CHF allocation comes as aid agencies in South Sudan are appealing for $1.81 billion for 2015 to support 4.1 million people in need.

CHF current donors include: Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
