The South Sudan National Police services have received 150 vehicles to increase operational effectiveness across the country and maintain law and order.

According to the national police spokesperson, the vehicles include Toyota pickups and armored tanks that will be distributed across the ten states and the three administrative areas.

Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin says the vehicles will help in combating criminal activities including inter-communal fighting, cattle raiding and highway robberies among others.

The cars, Daniel Justin says will aid the movement of some members of the organized forces to deter insecurities in rural and hot-spot areas.

The vehicles donated by the national government were handed over to the police at the General Headquarters in Buluk on Monday.

“We have received a total of 150 vehicles of different types. The Toyota pick-ups will help us a lot in combating crimes because they will be distributed to the states and administrative areas including the headquarters here”, Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin told Eye Radio on Monday evening.

“This will help in combating communal fighting and cattle raiding, because these vehicles will enable us to go to the rural areas to carry out our duties”, Daniel Justin added.

The vehicles were reportedly procured by a private company contracted by the government las year, but he did not mention its name.
