A woman who left the UN camp in Bor to be reunited with her relatives, has been arrested in Duk County in Jonglei for possessing a police uniform, the deputy governor of Eastern Bieh has said.

Nyadak Kutin Riek, a mother of four children, had been at the UN base since 2014 due to the conflict.

She is a native of Eastern Bieh and was among other internally displaced people who left the camp in recent days to be reunited with her relatives in Duk County.

The county hosts many internally displaced persons who are from Eastern Bieh.

Her deputy governor, Taban Juch, says police found a police uniform in her handbag and arrested her.

Mr Taban has called for the release of the women.

But the Duk County Commissioner, Malual Wuor, has denied the arrest.

“There is no report like this. We need to know the ones framing the false information,” Mr Wuor said.

“If it is true, we need to find out who did (arrest) so.”

According to the state relief and rehabilitation commission, more than 7 people who were in the UN camp in Bor have been reunited with their families, currently in Duk County.

RRC Deputy Director James Jok says they expect to reunite 150 others with their families. The UN and the state authorities arrange for the reunion.
