Communities in Kajo-Keji and those in Moyo in Uganda have signed an agreement to end border disputes.

Border clashes between the two communities in 2014 left more than 50 people dead on both sides.

Over the weekend, the two held a reconciliation meeting in Kajo-Keji and came up with several resolutions to restore peace in the area.

They include free movement of local people and increased intermarriage between the two communities.

“But to make it more concrete, the two councils of Kajo-Keji County and Moyo District shall have a joint council meeting to give it a blessing to become a legal document,” said Paul Didi, Moyo District Local Council Deputy Chairperson.

Mr Didi called on the national governments of Uganda and South Sudan to speed up the demarcation of the border areas.

Early this year, the two governments formed technical committees to start the process.
