A Boma state official says soldiers from the former Cobra faction have attacked Pibor town.
The fighting broke out on Tuesday after his security details of the state governor arrived in the town ahead of the state governor’s visit.
“When they arrived, the former cobra forces opposed that (the guards presence),” said Boma state’s coordinator Gabriel Amakori.
“They asked why these people went there, because previously, they were opposing the government decision of appointing Baba Medan as the governor.”
No casualties were reported. Mr Amakori added that many residents have fled the town.
