The commissioner in the office of the governor of Gbudwe State is among seven people shot dead this morning in a clash between the arrow boys and the SPLA.

Mr Angelo Parakondo was allegedly shot dead by a vigilante group locally known as Arrow Boys.

“We found commissioner in the office of the governor dead and his driver who was [also] shot dead,” said Brig Batista Kimbo, state police commissioner.

Those killed include the commissioner, his driver and five arrow boys, according to Brig Batista. A police officer and a prison warden were also wounded.

They are receiving treatments at the main hospital in the town.

Earlier today, residents of Yambio told Eye Radio that heavy gunfire erupted in the town this morning.

This follows a month of relative calm in the area.

A similar gunfire broke out in the town in December, leading to killing and displacement of several civilians.

Residents say the latest shooting started this morning on the outskirt of the town and spread to most of the suburbs.
