Fighting erupts in Jopa

Author : | Published: Monday, January 11, 2016

A fighting broke out in Juba’s Jopa area this morning, local authorities have said.

The chief of the area, Lawrence Laku, says this is an escalation of an attack on Saturday.

Mr Laku says it was not clear what the cause was and who was fighting with the security forces in the area.

He could not specify the casualty figure, but said a child was among the dead.

“But here, killing has become a normal thing since last year,” Mr Laku told Eye Radio.

He appealed to the government to deploy more forces in the area.

“We called on the government to send us soldiers immediately,” Mr Laku added.
