The former Director General for South Sudan Television and Radio has joined the SPLM in Opposition.

Khamis Abdhalatif made the announcement in Nairobi today.

The Minister of Information, Michael Makuei Lueth, has confirmed Khamis has moved to the SPLM in Opposition.

“I have just been informed that there is such a thing. It is his right to defect if he has so decided. I have no comment. We were about to discipline him even, but if he has decided to go, that is the shortest cut for solving the problem.” He said.

Before he joined the SPLM in Opposition, Khamis was transferred to the headquarters of the ministry of information by a ministerial order.

He rejected the transfer, saying he could be transferred only by a decree from the President.

Makuei said his own observations about Khamis have now been confirmed.
