The government of Western Equatoria state has dismissed reports circulating on social media that the governor uttered hate messages during a conference in Mundri last week.

Governor Joseph Bakosoro was quoted as saying that the people of Mundri should not allow people from other states to disrupt farming and peace in the county.

The statement which received negative reactions on the internet further claimed that governor Bakosoro criticized leaders from certain communities for having failed the country.

However, Western Equatoria state Minister of Information, Charles Kisanga told Eye Radio that the governor was misquoted.

“There is no such statement like this,” Mr Kisanga said.

“The only thing is that the governor was addressing the conference and the community leaders were there for this conference, and the idea was that in order to get peace among the people; it’s the leaders of the community who can control them, because those who are moving are controlled by chiefs.”
