The commissioner of Abiemnom County in Ruweng administrative area said a 60-year-old man has been abducted from his farm by unidentified criminals in the area on Monday.

Commissioner Matiop Dau Deng told Eye Radio his administrative jurisdiction has been faced with many serious insecurities since 2023.

Mr Deng said the hostage, identified as Ngon Dau, went to his farm on Monday morning with his daughter, when he was taken at gunpoint by the strangers.

The commissioner said the girl fled the assailants and reported that his father has been taken away.

“One of the elderly people, aged 60 years old, was abducted by the criminals when he went to his farm with his younger daughter, but later the young girl ran and complained about her father, and we don’t where are they now. Until now, the organized forces including police are after them,” he told Eye Radio.

Commissioner Deng said there are several cases of abduction occurring in his area, targeting civilians going to their farms every day.
