The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs says 60 SPLA soldiers have been arrested for violating human rights at Terrain Hotel during the fighting in Juba in July.

The hotel was hosting expatriates, including foreign workers. Media reports indicate that some were abused and one journalist was shot dead.

Peter Bashir Gbandi was responding to concerns of National Assembly MPs about the behavior of SPLA soldiers.

The SPLA earlier said that 60 soldiers were court-martialed for different crimes, pending the approval of the President.

However, the crimes  committed didn’t involve rape.
