58 appointed members of the Reconstituted National Constitutional Review Commission tasked to draft the permanent constitution of the Republic of South Sudan were on Wednesday sworn in in Juba.
The members were sworn in on Wednesday.
Addressing officials, President Kiir members of the Reconstituted National Constitutional Review Commission to expedite work on drafting the country’s new permanent constitution, ahead of next year’s general elections.
According to the Presidential Press Unit, “the Head of State pledged his commitment to providing adequate support to the Commission to achieve a successful constitutional making process to pave way for new political dispensation.
Speaking upon their oath-taking, the Chairperson of the National Constitutional Review Commission, Dr. Riang Yer Zuor said “They are ready to guide the entire constitutional-making process.”
Meanwhile, Justice Minister, Ruben Madol Arol reportedly said, the foundation for any nation must be based on constitutionalism, and that public participation is crucial to the process.
