Central Equatoria State Ministers of Local Government, Land, and the Juba County Commissioner have until Monday next week to appear before the legislature or face impeachment after failing to adhere to Wednesday’s summons.

Acting Minster of Local Government Goodwill Wayi; Land, Housing and Public Utilities, Minister Laku Fred, and the Juba County Commissioner Charles Joseph were supposed to account for the rampart land-grabbing in the state and capital Juba.

But they didn’t show up at the state parliament on Wednesday.

The State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Peter Wani said he called the officials on Wednesday Morning but none of them turned up for reasons he does not know.

the commissioner of Juba County was summoned by the state parliament to answer questions related to Insecurity and rampant land grabbing in Juba.

Speaker of Central Equatoria State Parliament Peter Wani Elia says there was no communication from the three officials on why they are absent.

Wani adds that the officials have until Monday to show up in the parliament or face impeachment.

“The two ministers and the Commissioner of Juba county did not show up and the reason I do not know.

“I called the Minister of Cabinet Affairs who was supposed to communicate this, I wrote to him officially to inform the two ministers and the commissioner of Juba County.

“I also followed in phone calls, and today Wednesday morning I called but he did not pick up my call, so I do not know the reason why they did not come to attend this sitting.

Rt. Hon.Wani went on to say; “I am not going to communicate, the Minster of Parliamentary Affairs will take it because he is our bridge, he has to take it verbally and seriously,” adding that “if they do not come on Monday for sure this house is going to impeach them all in absence.”
