The deputy Minister of Interior Augustino Jadalah is visiting Northern Bahr al-Ghazal State to remove illegal checkpoints.
Businesspeople often complain of illegal checkpoints which they say lead to rise in market prices.
Mr Jadalah is heading a team from the ministry of interior.
“His visit aims at removing all checkpoints that are on the way – those people who tax the trucks carrying goods to Aweil,” Jackeline Nyibol, Aweil Town Mayor, told Eye Radio.
“Any person who has a hut on the road saying that he is collecting from the trucks’ owners has to leave the place. He came from Wau removing these checkpoints up to Aweil.”
