Church distributes seeds to Kajo-keji farmers

Author : | Published: Wednesday, July 6, 2016

The Episcopal Church is distributing seeds and tools to about 1,200 farmers in Kajo-Keji County, Yei River State.

The Director of the ECSS diocese of Kajo-Keji, Reverend Elly Karamingo, says the farmers have been divided into six different groups.

These include the five payams and a group of people displaced in 2014 by violence between the county farmers and those from the Ugandan district of Moyo.

The distribution started yesterday and will continue through the week.

Reverend Karamingo says the project aims at improving the level of food production for local consumption and for sales.

Apart from food security, Mr Karamingo says the project also aims at protecting the environment mainly by planting trees. The cost of the project and the source of funds were not immediately clear.
