Why Jubek won’t publicize Rajaf killing probe findings

Author : | Published: Wednesday, July 6, 2016

In Jubek State, the Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement says an investigation into cases of beating, arrest and killing of civilians in Rajaf East has been completed, but the findings will not be made public.

Governor Augustino Jaddalla formed a ten-member committee in May to find out the root causes of such incidents within a week but the period was later extended.

The committee was also required to identify those involved in agitating the situation.

Local Government Minister Isaac Ribek says the outcome of the investigation will not be made public over security issues.

“This report will not be made public because it is a [sensitive] security matter but if you want more details you contact the advisor for security in the state,” Mr Ribek said.

Efforts by Eye Radio to contact the state security advisor, who was the chairman of the committee, have not been successful.
