A South Sudanese economist is urging the youth to start private businesses through setting up cooperative societies.

The chairman of the Vision 2040 of Central Equatoria State, Dr. Kenyi Spencer, says youth should generate capital for setting up businesses through contributions.

He told Eye Radio that young people should not rely on salaried jobs.

“Salaried jobs keep you at a level where you cannot grow beyond,” he advised.

“What is important now is for them to create their own employment and the only opportunity they have is this one of using the saccos.”

Saccos are savings and credit societies. Dr. Kenyi Spencer said some of the projects youth can set up include farming or being brokers.
